The story doesn't move forward unless Straw Hats are involved, this is easy to understand. While I enjoy the Rev flashback, I also know this happened in the past and they ain't going to do shit by themselves. Luffy and his crew will have to be a part of it for anything to be resolved. Classic shonen.
And only

Then we have WG, Rev Army, and Vegapunk (he turned out to be more important than I thought).
If I have to choose one without being biased I would choose Vegapunk.
