That's not how it goes:
Once ypu enter Mahito's Domain, he's touching you. He just needs to activate it and it's gg for everyone bar Yuji/Sukuna at that moment

Yuji broke in, Sukuna was touched and he attacked Mahito. You can attack anyone in a Domain if you have what it takes.

Once Mahito was in critical condition the Domain broke because he couldn't keep it up and it was pointless to do so anyway since Sukuna was inside.
