We are in the final stretch and I think we can all agree that One Piece has improved a lot after Wano, which gives hope for a great ending.

If Oda manages to close his work well, will One Piece be remembered as the best shonen?

Unfortunately we won't have a satisfying ending, at most we'll get an okay / above average ending, due to how many expectations OP has & how big the fanbase is.

However, if Oda did pretty well, One Piece bring the best action adventure shounen is a lock.

Pre ts was great but the majority of Post TS was average at best with WCI and Wano hitting all time lows. Post Wano is very enjoyable to me though. OP is getting back on track.

Wano was great if we exclude Kaidos garbage supposed "death" and some dumbass Charachters like Otama and open plots it had some of the best Action Hype i ever have witnessed... but yeah some decisions by Oda ruined it.

I'd say a great ending would confirm how good it is, a "dispaointing " ending would make it sour but still a very good manga
a "bad" ending would be a massive hit on its reputation.

its impossible now because oda has decided to copy kishimotos entire formula for the one piece endgame. Even if oda executes it better, one piece does not deserve to be called the greatest if he's just copying. From skypiea till marineford arc minus thriller bark arc is best stretch of one piece and its one of the best no doubt.

Post skip has been mid but current chapters are really good.

I don't think OP should be compared to death note , code geass , fma b type of anime. In comparison they are way short.

there would never be a best shonen, entertainment is subjective. but one piece is currently topping the charts in achievements so I don't think one piece having good ending would change anything it is like Bayern winning the Bundesliga again.
