Actually, I never understood either... It was never about proving that an admiral is individually more powerful than all the Yonkous individually.
- Because Whitebeard was > All the admirals.
- Kaido > All the admirals.
With both of them out of the picture, I would say that now is the most likely scenario to debate if among the current Yonkous there is one of them who, just like Kaido and Whitebeard, is > all the admirals, because this is the only period in history so far where we don't have a character stronger than all the others defined...
Before, there was never any discussion; the only discussion that existed was whether the arithmetic mean of the Yonkous was higher than the arithmetic mean of the admirals, that is, minimizing Shanks and Big Mom as much as possible because we knew that Whitebeard and Kaido > surpassed any admiral...
So as a group, the arithmetic mean of the Admirals was debated to see if it surpassed the arithmetic mean of the Yonkous.
Discussions about individual strength were only plausible when considering Shanks and Big Mom, not including Kaido and Whitebeard, as the story suggests they are individually stronger than any admiral
