Character Discussion Shanks really is a Knight!?

#1
We still don't really know what Shanks really is up to but his actions so far had a pretty straight lined pattern: Fairness and honor

- So listen, his first appearance was on luffy's home island. There he was assaulted by the bandaid guy and his gang. But it was only their leader that assaulted him, so it's been a 1vs1 where shanks chose to keep low profile.
- Note, none of the other bandids threatened any other person.
- Later when those guys ganged up and beat up luffy, a little kid, shanks got very angry. Cause it was an unfair fight. So he ganged up too and stopped it.
- Some guy pulled a gun on unarmed shanks and his subordinate pulled a gun

Next appearance, he meets Mihawk and asks if he's come for a duel. Again, a 1vs1 thing.

Next, he goes to wb in order to stop ace. Maybe because shanks knows things about Teach, things he's not at liberty to say, and therefore ace is in disadvantage. It's an unfair fight.

Next, shanks stops kaido from attacking wb while he was on his way to MF. It's an unfair move since wb was heavily occupied.

Next, he stops the massacre at MF. The pirates had lost, the marines had achieved both their main priorities, ace and wb gone.
It was dishonorable to continue the killing.

He stops aramaki cause it's dishonorable to attack the pirates while they were still recovering.

He decides to deal with Barto cause his actions may have a bad influence on his reputation. "What would they think [...]". So it's an honor thing.

He's okay with kid challenging him. He even continues drinking and chills with his people while kid is ringing the war bells. Shanks confirms kid is fully recovered. And continues chilling, totally in peace. The moment he sees a future with kid attacking the weaker ones of the fleet instead of shanks himself, he gets pissed af und attacks him, showing no mercy to the entire crew.

- another thing are all the fodder pirates he protects cause they're too weak.

This guy developed some heavy noble Knight fetish. His endless desire for an honorable living goes even so far he waits for years before he makes his first move towards the OP. Why? Maybe because he wanted a fair race? Most likely he has at least some Intel that would have given him an edge. So he waited until the scenery changed. Was it his idea initially to stop duelling mihawk? Cause it's an unfair fight now?

Wouldn’t bet all my coins on the topic but the reoccurring pattern of fairness and honor at least points to some heavy psychological issues. And considering the last chapter he has at least a direct connection to (Holy) Knights.
Whatever this might mean for the story :kayneshrug:
