It adapted to "slashing attacks" itself when Sukuna initially tested Dismantle on it before even opening his domain.
So it can regenerate from Cleave (from DE) too, because Cleave falls into the same bracket.
But the fire arrow doesn't.
I don't think it adapted to Cleave while it was being cut into pieces inside the domain, the narration here indicates that it had adapted to "slashing attacks in general" from the time it first adapted to dismantle.

I may be wrong, but Sukuna used it twice as a finisher (Mahoraga/Jogo) for a reason I guess. It's like his own hollow purple or something.

Yeah basically, Cleave is a specific type of slash whose power is adjusted to the target he's cutting while Dismantle is his regular slash.
But still, both are the same though - slashing attacks which Mahoraga ended up adapting to.
Flame Arrow might indeed be stronger technique than Cleave or Dismantle generally speaking, but i doubt it's superior to Cleave spammed through Malevolent Shrine.

Gege's inspiration for Sukuna is a char he created for a previous manga in which the said char could summon different weapons from "boxes" by saying "open", as Sukuna did for the flame arrow.
Dude isn't the King for no reasons. Gojo has the 6th eye and limitless, Sukuna must have more than just great physical and CE output stats.
He most likely have some hax whatever it is...
