Oda is just....He does know that if he wants to avoid having the BMP attack the Alliance or Luffy's crew he simply could have had it where they still show up. The only thing different would be that the other members of the BMP would have learned about what happened to Katakuri or would have talked to Katakuri to see that the person they respect the most apart from Big Mom has immense respect and admiration for Luffy. Maybe Katakuri tells them to not take it too hard on him and his crew and that would result in them not going all out against Luffy and Company or letting them slide as means of honoring Kata's wishes.

Everyone assumes Marco will either fight King or help in the fight against Kaido but what if he takes on BM instead ? She doesn't have any clear potential opponent as of now and someone has to take care of her. Obviously he can't fight her on his own but he'd easily be the greatest asset in this battle.
