Second in command of emperors are always special. They have certain hype when it comes to strength. It is not that BMP are weak, it is just that Marco has that much hype.

It's not like Marco has to fight them, he just needs to kick their ship using his ability, and also they never expected the right hand man of wb pirates to appear

Either way, why these small things matter. All that matters is what they will do in upcoming war.

Portrayal is key and Oda hasn't done the best job of portraying Smoothie as Big Mom's second strongest subordinate. Cracker was way more impressive..
