don't let flashy combat moves and cheesy one-liners deter you from the fact that garp is an irredeemable piece of shit

in 1087 garp has come to 'save' some young marines. he's protecting them with his body, telling them everything will be alright, lavishing praise and reassurance on koby, grus and helmeppo.

in other words, garp is protecting grown men who are able-bodied, armed, have received military training and have voluntarily accepted jobs that are likely to put them in danger.

these individuals have no problem triggering his protective instincts.

do you know who failed to trigger such protective impulses?

the civilian women his best bud sengoku decided to exterminate because their unborn children may or may not have been fathered by gol d roger.

2. there was never an order to find rouge in particular. there was an order to find ANY child who COULD be roger's and ANY mother who COULD be carrying that child.

the baby hunt happened before luffy and ace were born, thus before they were old enough to be left with dadan. so that's where my countdown starts.

but leaving children with bandits who left them unsupervised so that someone like shanks could spend 10 months (!) braiwashing one of them was one of garp's many bad decisions, yes. so was hypocritically blaming them for 'becoming' criminals (as opposed to 'being raised as such')

They are the future, reason Garp protects them. In rank, Garp is a no one, even Aokiji or Kizaru can tell him what to do.

He fits no place in decisions since he is just Vice Admiral, so all the slaughter falls to Sengoku and the goverment, not him.

I believe Coby and the rest will change the face of the marines and goverment but by bit with their ideals, reason Garp protects them
