Character Discussion Garp is a vile, immoral piece of shit

Garp knows full damn well about how awful the Celestial Dragons are and still didnt join his son in his rebellion against them. Tells you all you need to know about him. Anybody that defends his absolute morale cowardice when it comes to serving the World government is basically going "he was just following orders" without extra steps.

He is THE hero of the Marines. If there was ANYBODY could make a difference when it comes to making a statement, it would be him.

Fujitora having breakfast on mariejoa while slaves work under him inside the inner levels of the land.

Sengoku sending the order to kill multiple women because of roger.

Garp knowing about everything CDs do while doing NOTHING to stop it.

Those are just small examples of so called "good marines" hypocrisy.

Garp was irredeemable when this piece of shit thought it'd be a good idea to leave Luffy and Ace with mountain bandits, not having the common sense to realize that leaving them with criminals would influence them to become criminals themselves, believing they'll miraculously be good little boys and enroll into the Marines one day. Fucking idiot.
He left him with Dadan who he thought was trustworthy.
Keep in mind he and Dragon were raised in the same place as Luffy, they don't know any better places to raise their children.
Garp and Dragon could raise them but that wouldn't be much better- Both are always engaged in tough battles that would definitely get Luffy Ace and Sabo killed in the crossfire.
So I don't think this is totally his fault.
And sure, he let Ace die, but you have to understand that this was a very emotionally troubling time for him.
He had to choose between his career, reputation, etc. and saving Ace.
But it was even more than just that- He'd have to go through the entire force of Marines just to save him as well.
Marineford was extremely hard for him.

Huh?
I mean, I would have my protective instinct triggered when people they I actually know and care for are under danger, and not randoms lol.
But, I would still agree that Garp not even raising an opposition to this atrocity was out of character for him. Maybe he did offscreen, who knows? But at the end of the day, he is one man and can't stop this by himself.

Garp is one of the best characters in the series, a true embodiment of internal conflicts - conflict between what his heart desires vs what his brain tells him to, conflict between loyalty to his ideals vs loyalty to his family.

In Marineford.
His brain tells him that Ace made his own bed (which Ace himself tells Garp), so Garp at least nominally defends Ace's execution. He prevents Marco from saving Ace due to this reason, because he made up in his mind that Ace was executed. He sees no other way.

This is why he stands in Luffy's way as well, but unlike against Marco, he truly couldn't bring himself to punch the shit out of Luffy. Exemplified perfectly by the panel of him closing his eyes at the last moment, probably turned off his haki too.

When Ace was finally freed, came a glimmer of hope in him that Ace was to be saved. And when Akainu killed Ace after this, when it was least expected. Garp lost all his reasoning and snapped, he was at this point only controlled by his emotions and hence asked Sengoku to keep him down.

In this manga where most characters lack any internal conflicts, where good guys don't face the consequences of their actions. Garp stands out spectacularly.

And Ace rejected the offer.
Your point?
my point is that garp justifying ace's execution on the grounds that he's a pirate ("he committed a crime and deserves the punishment") doesn't make sense as garp's employer (the WG) likes pirates well enough to offer them partnership in the shichibukai positions and offered such a position to ace as well, since they didn't have a problem with ace's piracy or any other actions.
