Well Zoro always fights the 2nd strongest of the enemy group. So If Kuzan’s still around when the time comes and fights against the Strawhats then it would be him.
And tbh Shiryu doesn’t look like he can give Zoro any difficulty from what I’ve seen from him so far. So he will need a massive power up or something.

Why does Zoro need to fight the second strongest? It seems like Aokiji is stronger than Shiryu, but that doesn’t automatically mean he is Zoro’s opponent. What Zoro “needs” is an opponent which can make his haki grow. Mihawk is a fucking beast. Obviously far stronger than Aokiji. Fighting him with CoA and CoC alone isn’t enough. What Zoro needs is CoO right now. And Shiryu is the perfect opportunity to make it bloom.
Obviously Shiryu. He's the anti-thesis of Zoro as a swordsman.
Don't think Aokiji will fight the Strawhats but him getting defeated by someone like Coby or Smoker would puts shame on Admiral's name.
Would rather have Sanji defeating Aokiji instead. Just at least let someone worthy taking care of Kuzan.

Zoro's opponent will be the one that helps Zoro grow stronger in a way he needs to grow. The strength of Zoro's opponent isn't important. What is relevant is how they help him grow by exposing an area he is weak in, compared to the rest of his skills and ability, or he needs to grow in.
At this time, Zoro won't benefit much from fighting and beating Kuzan. Kuzan uses ice powers and haki. His ice DF powers appears to be his strongest ability. Zoro's powerful CoA haki , ACoC, cutting power/skill, monsterous strength, and fire/hellfire power should allow him to defeat Kuzan without need anything more or new.
Shiryu could make Zoro struggle if his DF awakening powers allows him to become harder to detect or complete erase his presence. We don't know much about his haki strength or swordsmanship but I doubt it's stronger than Zoro's.

Idk dude hasn’t gotten a fight since Skypeia. And his role in Alabasta was just support for Usopp to fight Mr. 4 and Ms. Merry Christmas.

lol , Nah Big Mom is portrayed as an ally and she got named as a Yonko Big Mom besides Kaido while Kuzan is identified as an official member of Teach crew like how Zoro is an official member of straw hats anytime he wants he can leave no one tied his hands , that's how things are portrayed so far .

Why would smoker fight Kuzan? From a story Standpoint.
Not sure what relevance Laws moment against Meme has. This same foolish logic, what had u thinking kid was going to take the spotlight in the meme battle in the first place.
Law has smoke to settle with BBPs, an obviously oda playing up the D angle. Having all 3 being directly connected over the story. during teach vs luffy. In the background Robin/Law will be connected to Kuzan. In which case they expose the D clan secret. Pre final WG war. Former fleet admiral candidate, an friend of Saul should know something.
