Luffy, Big Mom, Sanji, Chopper, Nami, Akainu, Shanks, Kyoshiro, etc. With Big Mom and Sanji being the most brutalized victims.

Sure, Marco was cool and likeable. But that was pre TS, when most of the mentioned characters above were still too. So it's not too farfetched to think Marco coming to Wano, only to be made and treated like a fool.
