I would agree with you if Oda didn't have several titanic captains get one shot by Boa and then Kuzan. I know hax is different to brute force but you gotta agree that it makes Garp look bad when coincidentally in his fight none of them ( he defeated sanjuan) were permanently defeated.

Boa is very haxed and one hit can decide the battle, so their failure is excused imo.

Now when it comes to Kuzan, it highly depends. Did he touch them? And from the looks of it, if you are too weak to break the ice, it's usually your loss. At the end, Garp also failed to break the ice since he was too weakened and injured.

Koby was the only marine who stood up to Sakazuki in MF. You could argue that Luffy and Sabo have a better reason to fight him.

But Koby vs Akainu would also be compelling.

If I were to guess, we’d get both. Koby fight Sakazuki, nearly dies, then Luffy/Sabo saves him last moment.

Nah it would be great to see luffy fighting and defeating a full power Akainu then see him fight a weakened Akainu.
