Been a great two chapters of Garp Glory.
Give me the Marine spinoff based on Garp Oda. You know you want to. What he’s done with Garp and Kuzan has been my favourite part of One Piece in years. Toss the old man out and let him die is a great Garpism, and I liked the battleship punching bags. Also, I think this is the first time it’s confirmed that Dragon is explicitly Garp’s son? Before there was a little room for Garp to actually be the father of Luffy’s mother, and Dragon took her name,
Always wondered what Kuzan really fought like. We haven’t seen much extended fighting from him before, especially CQC. Makes a lot of sense that he’s a puncher like Garp is.
Garp must have been a monster in his youth. Near enough every time he’s fought we’ve had Oda point out that he’s weaker now than be used to be. This is his old age, and it’s the equivalent of fighting an Admiral and a solid chunk of a Yonko crew, including the top two subordinates.
Speaking of, Blackbeard Pirates kept up their backstabbing fun piracy. Shiryu obviously has pretty lethal attacks- still not named. I hope Pizarro can add some CQC fighting of his own to tie with the island stuff. Right now it seems to have a bigger weakness than Pica if he gets hurt by attacks to the island. Maybe see him coat an island in CoA or something.
Coby and Grus were cool enough. Helmeppo was, well, Helmeppo.
Not a chance Garp’s dead though, that’s captured and exchanged to World Gov all over it. Think Kuzan has effectively sold himself as a Blackbeard Pirate without crossing the final line of having to kill Garp. He should be safe as a double agent right now.
Where Smoker Oda
Much as I’ve enjoyed the Garp sidestory time to get back to Egghead.
