To say you should be allowed to change genders medically as a grown adult is one thing
to have that choice is perfectly fine
To on the other hand suggest that are you infact a biological female,male or etc is retarded
The defined group of male and female exist irrespective of any traditional beliefs of men wear blue and women wear pink as society would create terms to refer to a born human with female gentalia or male gentalia which in this case happen to be male and female, if history was to restart from scratch then somebody else would make a term to define what these groups are to be called
just as ants will still have a term to refer to them and so on, so forth
as yknow it's helpful to have phases and words to describe things and it just so happened that men or women as a term were made years before the 80s and 90s when transgenders became a thing tho at the time such people were called transvestite

But I was thinking about it recently because I'm reading this book on jewish history. A thing my rabbi wanted me to read as part of the conversion process.
There were parts of that book that made me legitimately sad. I think I cried a couple times in the holocaust chapter. And I kinda realized, America did comparably evil shit to black and native americans, however America was never really held responsible for its crimes against humanity in the same way Germany was.
You still have people flying confederate flags. I live in Texas and have seen it several times. And at least from my understanding of German culture, they have a completely different relationship to the nazis than what the Americans have with the confederates.
I feel like America needs to hold itself responsible for the evil things it has done to its fellow citizens. And I think Black people deserve compensation for the stolen property and labor that America took from them. Same with the Native Americans.

Mindlessly throwing money at people doesn't help at all. Funding should go to youth and community programmes to slowly fix the societal issues that were brought by exploitation, torture, trauma etc.
