Maybe technically more defence, but he is cerainly less durable than Kaido. He lost from one CoC slash after Kaido took dozens, as well as internal damage from Law and a much stronger ACoC attack from Zoro than the one that beat King. In the end, it took all that and an Island size punch with CoC and internal destruction to put him down. King might have harder scales, but Kaido>>>>>>>>>>>>King in terms of overall durability. That's as obvious as it gets.
Also Nik's argument was King>Kaido in general, which is even more ridiculous.
