Yet, sexual preference, gender identity or the color of the skin can be determinant for some people and life changing topics.. Don't you think those people deserve representation too ?
You didn't get what I said. I'm not against having representation and in fact do encourage it, but being gay or being x race should never be a big part of a character's story unless it fits within the narrative and isn't just being done for the sake of it.

Sorry I must missunderstanding sdomething, I feel like you are saying black and later white in the sam sentence.

How can we have good representation if characters are not allowed to have a big narrative arc centered around there identity ?

as if normal folks don't commit suicide lol

or is it fine to ignore cause they are normal?? even tho they make up majority of the cases
THere is nothing normal about suicide, but you don't suicide yourself for no reason hence why I say "under violence".. The violence can be psychologic (depression/gender Disphoria) it can be exterior (sect) but it will not happen for no reason..

Hm no. What does it stand for ?
Its the first letter of each of the 4 main character's names. Show literally is called RWBY.

To enforce what @Mr. Reloaded is talking about, 2 of the main characters in that show is Blake and Yang, amd they are viewed as 2 of the worst characters on the show due to how poorly written and inconsistent their characters. They were made bisexuality outta nowhere to appeal to shippers, and their writing suffered heavily as a result.

Have a scene of the character at home showing that their significant other is of the same sex and don't make a big deal out of it. Kaboom. That's all you need to do. They don't need to be screaming how they're gay and proud, just keep it subtle.

Lol funny you say that. Cause in the show RWBY, one of the main characters named Jaune has an older sister(a one off minor character). Turns out that his sister is a lesbian and they revealed it by having another woman come through the door with the sister saying "Guys, this is my wife." The camera direction and silence really tried to make it a big deal. They then proceed to have the both silently stare into other's eyes as if we couldn't already tell they were happily married.

To be fair, they'd say it is a "big" deal because they're not tolerated enough. But yeah, keeping things subtle is the way imo. Even though for trans-people, they can hardly keep it subtle...

I keep reading your posts with Tony Soprano's voice :suresure:

Oh yes. This is a very problematic trend. That's called queer baiting

Here is a very good video of Jessie gender about that problem.

But don't be fooled, this is not "woke" this is just capitalism and bad writing. "Woke people" actually fight queer baiting.

Of course, but what if you want to create an plot where this identity is important ?

There's absolutely no reason to do so.

But if that's what a director really wants, they do them. But don't complain if your project tanks.
Well.. Buffy was a quite acclaimed show.. no ?

I remember when woke was what we called the preachy dude who believed in conspiracy theories
That was never a thing. Woke was what we called people who were aware of racial discriminations in the 60'

its slang bro, where did you even research this

you can easily look this up and see it used as I described it in sites like urban dictionary

Yes, it comes front the 60' "woke" term. Signifying being aware of racial disciminations.

@Mr. Reloaded I have a subsidiary question:

Do you feel that your definition of Woke is the same as people like Tucker Carlson, Ben Shapiro or others like them?

If not, in what way your definition - for you - differ from the one of someone like them? (I have no example, just based on what you know from them)
