BB proved himself when he defeated Ace and became a Shichibukai. And then he got to display his power after gaining GGnM against the Fleet Admiral and the Hero of the marines. His crew is filled with the most atrocious bunch there is. He then spent an year taking over WB's territories and allies while growing stronger simultaneously. BB had an amazing resume for a Yonko candidate, yet the world didn't acknowledge him as a Yonko until he defeated Marco and co, which is essentially the same as Katakuri and co. Buggy was announced a Yonko before all the things you're saying happened. The point here is, the shit became one sided as soon as Mihawk entered the game.

Oden doesn't come with Kaido Defense , he took thunder bagua head on and still managed to survive.
Kaido took Oden attack head on with no distraction and Oden forced through his Attack. Give oden two more shots and kaido was dead..
