Lol there is no retcon, pal. The panic of Shanks after Luffy ate the fruit shows it is not just a fucking rubber fruit. It is your lack of intelligence that you believed its a simple gomu gomu. No Luffy fan ever believes that he just had a rubber fruit as there have been instances where the devil fruit has worked differently from the paramecia. No paramecia ever changed their physical appearance but Luffy did all that in gears.
Nobody would believe that a rubber man can beat a Mythical dragon or even liberate the world. Just think like an adult and not like a 3 year old child.

It's very obvious that it was a retcon.
Can write an essay on all of the bs last minute plot points, but ignoring all that, the very basics of a zoan, Luffy fails at. He is always rubber, all the time. He doesn't have a base form which reflects his condition prior to eating the fruit.
You can't name me a single other zoan that works that way including the mythical zoans. Chopper's is kind of retarded but even in his case he has his full reindeer form which is how he looked prior to eating the fruit.
It's an utter failure of an explanation, but I mean atleast some people are enjoying the retcon. Me personally, I wouldn't mind G5 if it was simply the rubber fruit awakening and not the asspull mythical zoan.
