I don't care about what Oda says, I only care about the story.
I'm not giving a take here. This was a course on storytelling. I'm not giving an opinion with this thread here lol.
Maybe you missed a few thing but what I defended with Carrot was a theory.

What I'm doing with this thread is not an opinioni or a theory (beside the little paragraph about the skills of the crew) this is the explanation of an objective technique of storytelling.
It was always there. A sharp mind should be able do predict gear 5 only with gear 2 and 3
Oda never disagreed with me entirely. My take was that Carrot was too important to be a side character and that the only explanation for that was that she would end up on the crew. The reality is that she became queen instead. I was half right.
But what does Oda's technique have to do with you giving your take?

Don't confuse a status and the evolution of a character. Carrot went from simple soldier to Queen. This is not something that happens to side character that usually keep their status.

Could very well be the case. This is one of my biggest questionnement about Oda. Is he a natural or a technician.. I don't think we will never have an answer to that.
I agree that there is an inconsistancy regarding Carrot. I would even say, an error.. but until the end of the story.. I need to be patient. Things could change.
