Could very well be the case. This is one of my biggest questionnement about Oda. Is he a natural or a technician.. I don't think we will never have an answer to that.
I agree that there is an inconsistancy regarding Carrot. I would even say, an error.. but until the end of the story.. I need to be patient. Things could change.

The rest of the RS knew Kinemon was clueless, yet they appreciated him, just like OP fans. But the difference is, OP fans won't even believe Oda's own words and how he comes up with new ideas.
