apparently there’s a lot of evidence the guy did it. Like pictures of her blood on the carpets, text messages, etc.

but the state doesn’t want to put in the effort to actually prosecute him(and that too only for a misdemeanor offense they charged him with), so they want him to take the slap on the wrist plea deal.

My best friend is a lawyer. He works with domestic violence victims.

He told me this story.

His client’s boyfriend brutally assaulted her. She wanted him to be convicted, even if he did little to no time in jail.

The abuser’s attorney was trying to argue with the prosecutor for a plea deal. One where the guy basically does some anger management classes and the offense is dropped from his record.

My friend’s client didn’t accept this deal. She wanted her abuser to be held accountable. Due to some laws, the Prosecutor needed to respect the wishes of the victim(to some extent).

Anyways my friend told me that the abuser’s lawyer was an asshole and basically threatened to press false charges against the victim if she didn’t accept the bullshit plea agreement.

we will never achieve true justice here.the world is fucked up.

How though? We can't read minds. If the kid has mental problems and says nothing about it to a trusted adult and proceeds to go out and commit a crime they have no one to blame at that point other than themselves. There was no job for us as a society to do if the child was never willing to cooperate to begin with.
