G5 ended One Piece for me that was already too bad. I got a month break from it. Now I just tolerate to keep roasting it. It's still shits.

G5 is the worse power up ever probably because Luffy vs Kaido is the worst fight ever.

Let's take a look on all Luffys power ups and we are not talking about gears only.

First power up was against Crocodile. Water Luffy was finally able to hit him and do some damage. Not that gave him enough advantage since the form itself was ridiculous. And Oda should have kept like that until today. Ridiculous forms like Tankman weren't suppose to beat opponents.

A bit later bloody Luffy was able to give Crocodile a proper fight and show how superior he was without his logia intangibility and powers affecting him.

Then we had the fight with Enel that Luffy used dumb mode. Once again a ridiculous form that wasn't suppose to used to defeat Enel. Besides that he had no power up against him.

Finally Enies Lobby he came up with G2 yo defeat Blueno. And the combination of G3 and mainly G2 to defeat Rob Lucci.

Now at Thriller Bark we have Nightmare Luffy that was humiliating Oars something that the Strawhats together couldn't do without Luffy.

Jumping to timeskip we have the training of Luffy and new abilities as haki and red Hawk making him able to defeat Hody Jones and Caesar without much trouble although Hody almost killed him.

Then at Dressrosa we finally got the new gear. Luffy was losing hard to Doflamingo. He couldn't even get out of parasite. G4 Boundman gave him enough edge to overcome even Doffy awakening that the fight was low diff.

Later on WCI we had G4 Tankman that was a ridiculous form used to beat Cracker when Boundman couldn't even get past to his biscuits. By the way Tankman did nothing just received Cracker attack and somehow returned to him as some kind of reflect from pokemon. After that he pulled up G4 Snakeman against Katakuri which made him able to give him back some punches because he was so fast that his weakened FS couldn't react all the time.

Now let's stop here for a while. Pretty much all Luffy transformations have a purpose even the gag ones to overcome some of the opponent abilities.

Now let's see him at Wano against Kaido. Their first battle Luffy couldn't do shit in base or at G4 Boundman because he lacked the proper technique to bypass his hard scale. That's ACoA internal damage he learned at Udon. Then he realized that even with that his hits were too shallow although Kaido was dodging and making faces like a bitch getting murdered. That's why he learned ACoC which he coats his attacks with CoC.

So with just ACoA Luffy wasn't even able go 1v1 Kaido. Now with ACoC this 1v2 can happen even with him in base. So what we can expect? That's combining his gears that boosts his strength he would finally overcome Kaido. And what happens? Luffy out of nowhere pulls his G4 against Kaido and the fight remains just the same. Still an equal 1v1 just like he eas doing in base but he still has the drawback of 10min without haki when G4 runs out.

While already sucked to see how the fight didn't changed after using a power up he still needed another one to finally beat Kaido. That's where G5 comes in action. Initially G5 is a ridiculous form that seems to overcome Kaido easily but it doesn't last long to see that he is barely doing any damage against him and... guess what? The fight is still the same if not on favor of Kaido. For real G5 didn't pulled any better fight then base or G4 until the very end where he uses Bajrang Gun and was still initially losing until talk no jutsu power ups his haki.

Kinda agree with you. He was already matching Kaido in base by just using advanced haki (all three I think). Just stepping up to gear 4th while using all three forms of haki should have had him ragdolling Kaido.
That are Oda should have made it clear that Kaido was the superior fighter even when Luffy was fighting with three advanced hakis in base.

Also the messed up drunken mode which was suppose to make him stronger but it didn't changed a shit the fight. And Luffy was in base. And we don't know if he stayed drunk till the end or if Luffy beated a not drunken Kaido which was suppose to be weaker. Not forgetting his flame mode that is featless.

yeah the people saying it ruined one piece are exaggerating
I can understand that G5 can't be everyone's cup of tea and oda himself said it - some fans might not like it.

But yeah - it's not ruining anything. Neither it ruined kaido fight nor one piece.

Heck, luffy always had such attacks

These are Pre TS which people enjoyed.

And, G5 literally suit Luffy personality

The fact you don't think Boundman is a ridiculous form is, well... ridiculous
Boundman is badass. Has a bit of ridiculous on it because it bounces in a silly way(he can't stand still like normally he does in base) and has an ugly face. Besides that it is a badass transformation. Unlike Tankman and G5.

G5 is a cool power up and its in character with Luffy.Herrera and some other dudes are just bitching about toon force, because they wanted something different.
It has nothing to do with Luffy's character and is not cool power up.

Is not what I want is what over 1000 chapters showed us. Luffy's fight has it sillyness but at some point is always becomes serious. Even with G5 it ended serious. Even with toon force it ended in a normal way how all fights ended. These are enough information to say that Oda messed up. Luffy never needed toon force to make those silly fights.

Also the DF retcon out of nowhere. Is just ridiculous. I made up god that turns out to have a rubber body while being able to do all that silly stuff. Poor writting at its finest.

The difference is that those things were only comic relief not something to really take in consideration on Luffy's arsenal while fighting. He is never replicating those movements ever again.

G5 has lots of potential when it comes to creativity so as long as oda delivers on it I will dig it
Yet Kaido was defeated with a big punch. Great potential indeed...

Luffy always did goofy and wacky stuff with his rubber body, even during serious situations. Oda himself said that he gave Luffy the gomu gomu so he does funny stuff during serious situations.

Thanks for proving my point. There was no need for retcon.
