Dragon piece at its finest, i was expecting luffy to scream "KAMEHAMEHA" at a certain point.
There was a total of one aura throughout the entire episode lol.

Anyway, that was an excellent effort from all involved. There were only a few moments that matched the craziness of last episodes peak, but overall, I think this was probably the much stronger episode.

The animation staff list on the episode was insane. Holy shit, how the hell did they get Shinya Ohira to animate a scene????? THEY EVEN MANAGED TO GET RYO ONISHI BACK!!!! I'm flabbergasted.

Okayish épisode

Some good moments some bad, not a lot of great moments

I think S vs Q, Z vs K and 1015 were quite better
Lmfao you're tweaking. This episode was on entirely different level from SvQ and most of ZvK. Unless you're speaking content wise? Well they can't do anything about what's in the manga.

I think that this episode definitely has overall better highlights than 1062, it was a better storyboarded episode, though I think that the finale for 1062 is very very difficult to top in terms of pure spectacle.

Nope, I watched the ep on YouTube so maybe not perfect

for me S vs Q direction and narration > than Z vs K and that this episode.

This episode was okay, not bad, but not something you expected from Gear 5 vs Kaido big finale battle. It clearly lacked impact and quality. I expected more than this for the G5 episodes.

Fine episode. Better than last episode. But still not breaking the internet level or whatever

Feel as though this entire G5 thing was overhyped

I mean I know it was since I read the manga already but I almost forgot how lame this whole thing was and got sucked into the anime hype

So far there’s still problems with managing to storyboard what the fuck Luffy is even doing… Like the animation is clearer this episode than last episode but like I can’t tell where anyone is… Like is Luffy near or far away from Kaido… Are they moving closer to each other, how close are they… How far away are other objects… How big is anything in frame or in the background

I’m starting to realize that Oda’s tendency to not be clear on these things in the manga is now being exacerbated by the anime team not caring to try and fill these in and just focusing on over animating shit

Like why was Yamato just walking onto the roof so over animated. It wasn’t even composed well or like given any outstanding direction. She’s literally just jumping off momo and walking on the ground for a few paces and it animated like it’s the greatest thing ever

I think I know why none of the good directors even tried to get these G5 episodes. Storyboarding and directing these fight scenes would have been a nightmare and that’s why the good directors realized that Toei wouldn’t give them the time or resources to do it well so to prevent their reputations from being damaged they all refused to do it

Anyway, maybe it’s good these episodes aren’t that good because they might have ended up tricking me into buying into G5 if they were like legit too well done… Now I’m reminded why I didn’t like this shit in the manga as well

Lool yeah, Yamato had like a weird great animation just for her reaction. It was a bit weird and totally unnecessary.

Lmfao just no... objectively speaking this episode from storyboarding, directing, art, animation was on a much much higher level than SvQ, the only stretch of ZvK that even compares was the final 3-5 mins.

It literally runs laps around them as a whole. Idk what you were watching 😂

My favourite episode is still ZvK but I can objectively look at this ep and say it blows it out the water overall from start to finish. It's just a higher production overall, more refined.

from storyboarding, directing,
This is not true.

Storyboarding and directing are where both these G5 episodes keep falling flat on their asses

like in this episode you can barely tell how near or far away anything is from the other… That’s like one of the primary things in good Storyboarding, especially when it comes to fights… Is Kaido or Luffy near each other? How far away are they? When they are running towards each other, how much distance has been covered?

these are genuinely very poorly directed

btw you can go back to the Zoro vs King episode and you can find my comments there saying it was a meh episode in terms of being bunch of nonsense filler and over animated colors and light show…

I probably dislikes that Zoro episode more than this episode actually

but at the very least it was better Storyboarding and directing than BOTH these Two G5 episodes so far

Ive seen you say it alot but you really need to stop acting like anything in these episodes is like DBZ. Dragon Ball outside of Super Broly has never had the dynamic and fluid animation we've been getting in wano, there's nothing similar about them outside of auras occasionally of which this episode had literally one. What are you seeing where this episode even remotely resembled ANYTHING from Dragon Ball, seriously.

I know it’s not what we are talking here but S vs Q for me was a better episode than Z vs K. Z vs K had maybe more highlights for animation, but S vs Q was more fluid, had better rhythm and told a better story (direction etc). And they went stupidly over the top for K vs Z in the end lol.

But about this ep maybe I need to watch it again but i didn’t feel it at all. I know it’s not the climax of the battle but I think it was still under what should have been done for something that huge.

It would have been a good episode or even a great episode for an other arc or an other battle. But for G5 vs Kaido it was okay. And after first watching, it left me unimpressed

G5 vs Kaido is lacking something.

You do realize the biggest/best director in the business, literally the hottest director for toei atm was behind this episode right? I read your previous post....you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

They brought all and I mean all of their big guns on this one. They didn't cut any corners in any way here, the direction was as good as you can get for a OP episode, especially given the content they had to work with.

i know exactly what you mean...but that's a manga content issue. The directing here was 12/10.

Not enjoying it man... I liked few seconds of when drums played that's all... It's not suiting the current one piece.. They want to make it looney toons but they suck at that... The eyes thing feels like going overboard when they use only that all the time.... It would be good if they actually did it tom and Jerry style completely with more variations.....
And drums playing all the time when G5 is active.. Why only zunisha hears them.. Fudge..
