Why would I be coping, I don't even like G5? I'm not into the goofy shit, and the troll soundtracks that come with it. Mans need to learn to separate the content from art/animation/directing.

This was the highest level toei has ever reached for an episode from start to finish. I'm actually baffled by some responses here, are we watching the same thing? I'm not talking about liking or disliking an episode. You can not like the episode and still admit it's the highest level toei has ever reached for an entire ep.

Nah because people here either hate to their core, or are completely animation illiterate. They might think art style is the same thing as animation or think because the animations were silly they're worse or etc but some people here have legitimately braindead takes in regards to animation. You do realize the biggest/best director in the business, literally the hottest director for toei atm was behind this episode right? I read your previous post....you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

They brought all and I mean all of their big guns on this one. They didn't cut any corners in any way here, the direction was as good as you can get for a OP episode, especially given the content they had to work with.

i know exactly what you mean...but that's a manga content issue. The directing here was 12/10.

The hottest director is Ishitani… SHE DID NOT DIRECT ANY OF THESE EPISODES

I know all the big names animators are in these episodes, but big animators IS NOT the same as good directing and storyboarding

I don’t want to disparage the directors who did direct these episodes but no, none of this was well done

I have outlined ONE example of how badly this episode was done. I can go on if you actually care about getting into the nitty gritty of what was actually done but I feel as though you don’t

I just had an argument with a friend after the episode finished, he's a huge G5 fan and I don't like this shit, I didn't enjoy the content in the episode at all. But me disliking the content doesn't mean I can't see that this episode is very clearly at the top of the list for anything toei has ever produced for OP. And I'm not only talking about animation, which it is but also from a storyboarding pov it's just on a different level. You can tell it has Ishitani all over it, the last time an ep was this well done was 1015...which to no surprise was led by Ishitani.

This episode was crazy, did toei really animated this, unbelievable. No loops, perfect camera position, good music & art. It really is worth watching twice.

I’m maybe a little less severe, the pacing was okay, and things went good one after the others but it still lacked to be an amazing episode. Either the quality of the animation, the soundtrack or the fight rhythm itself, I don’t know but lacked something

Just watch again episode 1015 and you will see that this one isn’t at all the best episode of one piece.

Bingo 😂. I paused and rewatched just that section twice i shit you not lmao. It's crazy how much her style bleeds through, even when storyboarding I could almost pinpoint what she was involved in. I can also see some of the Yamato scenes on the roof.

One of my other favourite scenes was when Yamato was on the roof looking up at Luffy going giant mode. That shit was jaw dropping the way it was presented.

1015 still the best i agree. But I also think the content here was much harder to work with. It was looney tunes from start to finish, don't expect an epic or beautiful soundtrack when troll shit is going on. Still they made some key pauses on background music to highlight and breathe life into some key moments.

Really enjoyed this episode ,only downside for me was the lack of black lightning/Haki effects.
Right after Kaidos comment on how Luffy coats his attacks the animators seem to have remembered ,and the black lightning was back

Much better pacing than the previous episode.

Most visually impressive scenes for me were the non G5 ones odly enough specifically Yamato's bit just before Gigant and the sequence with all the others inside the fiery dome. That last one was just very well put together in all aspects and reminded me of 1015 and the charge to Onigashima episode.
