they also understand that subsequent seasons will have lower viewership, purely due to 2 things
1. Alot of people who tuned in are anime fans (not just OP) and wanted to see the product. Little reason for them to continue
2. IF someone enjoyed it enough, they dont need to wait 2 yrs for another season. They cna just follow the anime or manga.

Considering it's 4 days it's great

The books were there and not for that the viewership dropped.
Only the final seasons went downhill due catching up with the book so they made shit up.

Seems we are surely getting a season 2. Episode prediction:
1: Loguetown
2: Enter the Grandline + Twin Cape +Whisky Peak (it will be more condense and changed a bit)
3: Little Garden
4+5: Drum Island (i would switch it up a bit and introduce Ace here to give him more screentime)
6+7+8: Alabasta (I would end the season with the introduction of Whitebeard)
