Katakuri proved himself superior in every regard lol. Well my interpretation is that Luffy never won, Kat was standing over his unconscious body in the end. Katakuri just happily wanted Luffy to win because he was moved by his demeanor. Also, stabbing himself is way more of a nerf than a fodder stabbing Luffy.

Let's not forget to mention how Loda removed the natural stickiness from Kat's Mochi throughout most of his fight vs Luffy. Like you know a fight's poorly written when you need to unexplainably nerf one of the participants for the fight to work.
