Still believe Vivi is the most likely assuming the crew is not complete (in my mind the crew could be totally closed with Jinbe). Thing is, t I don't see how she's supposed to meet the crew anytime soon. I'd like her to join by the moment they reach Elbaf, after that it would feel pointless.

- Crew is indebted to him like Jinbe (no other character is like this besides these 2)
- Defended their ship for several years. Ship Guard is a real crew position in One Piece technically. His Devil Fruit is a perfect application to that. Also fights like a Sumo.
- DF Number Theory technically still exists with his DF.
- No one shares the bear motif at all in the crew
- Hidden Motivation/Tragic Past
- Memories still intact
- Is coming to Egghead right now (allgedly), so either he can be repaired/cloned with memories/whatever.

Very rarely does Oda write characters like Kuma and Jinbe. Characters with more depth to them than most get in this series ever.

And what I mean about "Depth" is their backgrounds. Jinbe was not only a Shichibukai, he was a King's guard, a Sun Pirate for years, a Whitebeard Ally, served under BM to protect his island, and more.

Kuma was not only a Shichibukai, but a slave in Marijoa or God Valley, a King, a RA Leader, and has hidden motivations behind everything he does.

Not to mention their ties to the crew in deeper ways. Jinbe to Luffy specifically. Kuma to everyone, but also to Luffy via Dragon.

Oda just needed to give Carrot a reason to join Luffy, and forcing this unnecessary role upon her and saying she's been given Pedro's will is what she needed to realize that traveling with Luffy is the only way to fulfill her character. That happened in chapter 1056, with him confirming having taken Pedro's will, confirming she grew stronger with Luffy, but having her lose to Perospero in order to show she needs to grow as Pedro wanted

Pedro last words were "Yougara, have to move forwards." And what were Perospero's words to her

"Go back home and chew on some grass." By going back to Zou, Carrot is moving backwards she's going against Pedro's will.

Oda has put himself in a situation where the only satisfactory conclusion for Carrot is for her to join the crew.

Reminds me....I wonder if Oda will ever go into Jinbe's real childhood. We never see how or why he became the way he was at first (grumpy and angry all the time)

At that point, the only sensible option if Bonney joining as well, as far as I can see.

Yeah, that's the problem. Both joining seems very unlikely, and it ruins the devil fruit number aspect for Kuma.

That is evidently a conundrum, but in theory she could just hang around with VP if it was Kuma's wish to help Luffy and crew get One Piece.

All in all, if they are meant for a happy ending they'd get it after the Final War, not exactly before since one would assume all Supernova and Shichibukai would be involved in it or the fight prior (i.e. One Piece).

I feel like at that point Bonney would feel content and since we are "close" to the end anyway, it wouldnt necessarily hurt that much.

At this point I genuinely feel like Vivis about to become a damsel again.

Nah, the pirate princess is going to hijack Morgans' flying ship and take it to Egghead to help her friends. Vivi is a damsel at times, but what I like is she always struggles, and never gives in. She refuses to ACT like a damsel, and, hopefully, she can get Kuma's Fruit and showcases some Haki when she returns to the main plot.

The first time Imu spoke, they brought up Lili, Vivi's ancestor. IMO, that means she'll have a very important crew, even if she doesn't join the Straw Hats.
