Where do you get that they didn't completely transform? They did. Did their "shadow forms" misguide you? That's just Oda avoiding revealing their actual forms to us readers, but not to Sabo, who saw them directly. Did you believe they were "midtransformation" for a whole chapter? Even after a short ellipsis when Wapol looks through the whole?

Sabo was also not downed by the Gorosei but by Imu.

There are so many ways to debunk this thread and you went full headcanon on it.

We already saw how Saturn alone took one whole damn chapter to transform dude. Most of their scene in Mariejoa has their shadows changing its shapes and increasing its size with time

Wapol only saw them after Sabo was out of there when Kobra decided to stay and die

And no way you believe what we saw from Saturn matches what we are seeing in Egghead, there is an obvious difference, specially in size

What are you on? Zoan transformations don't take a chapter, they're instant unless Oda dedicates a couple panels to showcase the change for the reveal.

And when Wapol watched they were "still" shadows. Oda is always inconsistent with sizes, even with that of major villains like Kaido (in all of his forms). The shadow was this, just hidden from us.

It wasn't dark, we literally saw their base forms clear as day before it, Oda just did that for dramatic effect so when their forms were revealed they'd be more shocking and cool.

Imo, the lighting in Mariejois was set up to be a dark place. That's the point of Sabo calling Mariejois "Hell".

And from what I remember, I don't think Sabo ever look at Gorosei and Imu clearly. I have to check the chapter again to make sure.
