Xebec was a neutral or good guy. There’s no way that WB will follow an evil fucker.
Roger probably had to play hero and intervene so that some civilians won’t die or something. I can’t think of any other other reason on why he would fight Xebec and defend some shitty CDs…
Maybe he wanted the treasure for himself?

Maybe they all got some haki bloom due to God Valley, but physically they should be at their peak IMO
I used to think it was crazy Roger and Garp did it back in the days, where just Rayleigh and maybe Bogard were the only other notable allies.
Now we see the allies were stacked too, with Saturn, young Garling (probably scaling to Shanks) added to the mix.
Was Kong ever mentioned though? Edit: just read the new spoilers
As things are looking now, it seems allies are more top heavy.
3-4 top tiers from Rocks side - Rocks, Whitebeard, Shiki (he around same age as Roger, I presume he's at his peak), Big Mom (?? she was 30, so maybe 70% her peak? Could've peaked early also)
4-5 top tiers from allies - Roger, Garp, Rayleigh, Garling, Bogard (? depending on his age)
I presume the rest of Rocks crew cancel out with Roger crew and other holy knights.
It becomes even worse for Rocks if Kong also came (Sengoku probably wasn’t there given how he explained the events to young marines).
Rocks probably will be shown as an absolute monster in this flashback if Kong is also there, that's the only way for the events to make sense
