Oda had already decided to turn Kid into the next Whitebeard, when he named him.

law and blackbeard were part of the same group, the warlords of the sea.
whitebeard abandoned said group and became friends with roger.
law abandoned said group and became friends with luffy.

Roger had his rivals, Luffy has his. Both Kid and Law are distinctly different from either of Roger’s rivals.
WB was a conqueror like Kid who similarly came from a shitty unaffiliated country. But he was also an honorable pirate with a shockwave DF like Law.
Whitebeard is whitebeard. Kid and Law are Kid and Law.
That being said, Kid allying with Teach makes sense. His ship was destroyed and this is now the second L he’s taken to the red hair pirates. Could see him allying with Teach to get revenge.

It's a possibility that Kid allies with BB to take down Shanks but then Shanks will also ally with Buggy
Kidd will end up taking down CG, replacing Buggy as Yonko while BB takes down Shanks
