Culturally? absolutely. But things are changing. Young people are starting to reject religion in numbers never seen before. I think the divisions we see among ideology nowadays are proof of how as a society we're redefining our values.

I feel like these values apply to many other countries that aren't western in origin. Japan is really big on community and being kind.
