Is Akainu the last hope for Marine fans and story lovers? Personally I have subscribed to the notion that Admirals = Yonkos but lately there have been three disappointments. Twerkbull, GCoWB (Green Cow of White Blade) then Aokiji vs Garp and now Kizaru vs Luffy. In each of these there are certain things that just make you think that a Yonko (at least the previous Gen to whom the Admirals were compared to) would never have. First is literally GB shaking and sweating by Shanks wifi Haki, it doesn't get clearer in portrayal between the two factions, however, we can also chalk this up to Film Red hype. Second is old Garp looking way better in his fight than Aokiji and Garp needing to be stabbed by Shiryu to bring his downfall. And lastly Kizaru getting almost one shot (he is not fully KO so almost but he is lying on the ground helpless after only one attack from Yonko Luffy).

As far as design aura goes I like Akainu and Fuji's style and I hope that they will redeem the Admirals. Akainu in latest episode was fire.

Akainu should be cut above the rest, given his feats and narrative portrayal, but we'll see.
I wouldn't consider any of those (except wifi diff) a disappointment.

- From the start, it was extremely unlikely that Ryokugyu has made a black blade, that is (presumably) a God tier Haki feat and Ryokygyu was simply not portrayed that way.

- Kuzan was barely trying to fight against Garp, it was constantly highlighted how BB pirates couldn't go all out, because they would damage Hachinosu and Teach will be mad. Additionally, in 2 of their 3 exchanges, Garp has commented that Kuzan is being held back by moral dilemma.

In context, there is nothing specifically bad about Kuzan's performance, especially considering that outside of Shiryuu's stab, he did 99% of the work.

- As for Kizaru vs Luffy, that was just Oda as usual finding a way to stall. Surprised that you mentioned it, given that you offered a pretty good take on it.

He might learn how to cook lobsters. Maybe they had a shortage because Akainu is a shitty chef and burnt most of them with magma.

One day he'll fight Sanji in a cooking contest and lose though. It's really sad.

Kizaru is the 2sd strongest admiral per portrayal and he is only shown to be on par with the weakest Emperor Luffy !

Mihawk > Shanks > Current Teach > Luffy who did very well by incapacitating Kizaru !
This is a great Issue for Admirals , since Kuzan himself is clearly near equal to Akainu let alone Kizaru who is also above Kuzan , and that only can make Akainu being slightly stronger than Luffy while we got three other emperors above Luffy so in another words Emperor Faction will always win

Red Dog got 2 shotted by MF WB, while even Warlord Teach did not, who wasn't even in his prime yet. The damages meant nothing for WB at that point since he said before he was going to die in MF anyways and could sink the island over Red Dog if it was 1 v 1. Then Red Dog went to extreme-extreme diff by taking heavy damages and face scars with Aokiji, which shows he is not stronger than others.

Aokiji become an underling to Teach and they were even denying that Aokiji being underling as well knowing what would that mean if Aokiji was an underling to an Emperor.

Greenbull twerking from miles away or Lizaru getting paralyzed without giving any heavy damages to Luffy doesn't change anything, Red Dog's only difference is he can use dirty tactics and can sacrifice his own men unlike others that doesn't make Red Dog stronger just more dangerous to everyone (to even Marines thats why Aokiji didn't want him as Fleet Admiral and fought him), they were all weaker than an Emperor.

The way that fight went, 10 days, longer than Rookie Ace vs Warlord Jinbe's 5 days, or Jack vs Inu+Neko's 5 days, and also Red Dog getting heavy damages and scars in the end and Punk Hazard still being %50 frozen and %50 volcano even after the final clash shows that fight was winnable for Aokiji, it was very close and probably minor mistakes determined the result. Perhaps Aokiji even become emotional vs his Marine friend, and made mistake. Its not surprising since Red Dog is less emotional if it come to that he might win that kind of battle who makes mistake first by being emotional not by superior power.
