Can't really take someone like Doflamingo seriously when compared to Kaido. Kaido's name alone makes Doflamingo soil his pants.

Maybe if Kaido was a character introduced earlier in the series, had no build-up and had a similar role to Enel then he might have been alright.

Unfortunately he is a late series character that had over 10 years of build-up, was supposed to be the pinnacle of piracy and had to share his arc antagonist role with other lame duds like Linlin and Orochi.

Kaido was utterly lame and bland for a character with 10+ years of build-up. There is a reason why he wasn't even in the Top 60 in the global OP popularity poll during his own arc and consistently lost out to antagonists that hadn't done anything in decades like Croc, Lucci and Enel. He was even beaten by friggin Bepo. :rolaugh:

Kaido was pure bs.

He wanted to die but not really. (Jumping from 10000m when he know he won't die is meh)
He wanted a gigantic war but not really. (Spent 20 years locked up in a dying country and still wasn't ready)
He wanted a strong samurai to fight him but not really. (He kept talking about Samurais until his FB, then he moved the goalpost to JoyBoy)
He wanted a honorable fight but not really. (He keeps getting angry when someone intervenes in his fights but still uses the opportunity to finish his opponents)

Doffy was the best villain by far imo.

Being the strongest doesn't make you a better villain.

In fact, not even being a decent character makes you necessarily a good villain. I quite like Kaido as he was, but he'd never pop in my mind if someone asks me to name good villains.
