Here's a simple one.

Tl;dr?

  • Jonathan Lewis, a 17-year-old high school student, died after getting kicked the crap out of him in Las Vegas.
  • Eight juveniles, aged 13 to 17, face murder charges for the attack.
  • Fight happened in an alley near Rancho High School over stolen headphones and a marijuana vape pen (as if minors as young as 13 should even be allowed to touch a vape pen :()
  • The beating was captured on video, showing 10 individuals assaulting Jonathan until he lost consciousness.
  • Four of the accused, aged 16 or 17, will be tried as adults; their cases automatically transferred to adult criminal court.
  • The remaining defendants, aged 13 to 15, will undergo certification hearings to determine whether they will be tried as adults.
  • His father stated that Jonathan intervened to help a smaller friend who was being bullied and had something stolen.
  • Jonathan passed away six days after the beating due to blunt force trauma.
  • The Clark County School District expressed grief and collaboration with law enforcement.
  • Jonathan's parents initiated a foundation in his honor.
  • Authorities are seeking more information on individuals seen in the video, urging the public to come forward with any details.
Somehow i'm suspecting if the races were reversed there would be a national outrage..
If the races were reversed hoo boy...let's just say we'd be hearing a lot about power structures and systematic oppression right about now...

As it stands "He was white so his death is right," in the eyes of the activists who torched cities during BLM....

Those kids are being charged

But when it is specifically a police officer doing the murder, something that disproportionately effects black people, the prosecutors are often reluctant to charge the officer.

This is because the prosecutors work with the police and hence when a cop commits a crime, they are essentially being investigated and prosecuted by their friends in power.

My concerns is that nobody asks Muslims to update their values for modernity. Nobody asks any other religion for these changes except Christianity... and now they're bending the knee.
That’s not true. I cannot speak on Islam, maybe @AL sama or somewhere more knowledgeable can.

But for Hinduism, that religion has been constantly evolving since time. Modern Hinduism is very different from Vedic Hinduism. The emphasis on gods are different, a bunch of new literature, like the epics, has been written since then. And hindu philosophy has grown due to influence from Buddhism and monotheistic religions.

Judaism has also had dramatic changes over time. The biggest one came with the destruction of the second temple which saw an end to ritual sacrifice with Temple Judaism dying out and rabbinic Judaism becoming the Jewish status quo. After that you still had a bunch of movement within Judaism that tried to reform it. The conservative and reform sects of Judaism, the most popular sects in the west, specifically arose to make Judaism more progressive.

I get it, but I feel like appealing to everyone is only diluting the values of the church (but I haven't got much skin in the game as I am not Catholic). With this I agree.

But is mostly hypocrisy combined with prejudice in some cases. They think it's cool to hate religion and Christianity is almost synonymous with religion in most people views. Bu

I think his point of view was religion changing to appease abominations in social media.

You can't compare something like stopping sacrifices in the designated place because the place was destroyed( in the case of jews and the temple) and ignoring one of the precepts in your holy text to appease people online that hate you (in the case of online mob against Christians and Christianity).

One thing is religion changing because of internal decisions ( like priests not being able to marry and hold property after the conclave as a Christianity example) and another is changing to appease extremists from the left and a small ideology that affects 0,01% of the people in real life and a loud group online.

I'm talking just based on my experience but I have not seem muslims changing their religion to conform to leftist society(even some of the sharia laws about women in the countries that follow it) but I have seen muslim asking leftists and being accepted to keep their traditions and laws even in another sovereign country. I may be wrong, of course, but you get the idea

What happened to Emmett Till is an incident that the US still remembers very well. If something similar to that incident happened on US again then there really would be a louder outcry vs what happened here in Las Vegas.

But when it is specifically a police officer doing the murder, something that disproportionately effects black people, the prosecutors are often reluctant to charge the officer.
Remeber the Ahmaud Arbery incident where he lost his life via shotgun wound? That incident caused a national outrage + major protests in the US because a black man ended up -1 life after an altercation (where Arbery tried to forcibly take away a shotgun being held by a perpetrator) that day.

Btw since the topic of Islam got brought up here again...just going to mention that the biggest concern that I might see in the future would be if Islamophobia in the western world would increase (because Hamas activities) or decrease (US media instigating support for Palestine over Israel).

What about historical councils and papal bulls are ''internal decisions'' please!? The majority of Christendom had no say in these

I’d say both are examples of religions changing over time and due to outside influence.

Perhaps a more relevant example. Traditionally, women didn’t have a big role in the synagogue. They weren’t allowed to be rabbis or even cantors(I think). They weren’t counted as part of a minyan(a group of 10 jews, something necessary to do certain prayers).

Then the reform and conservative movement changed that. Now in reform synagogues, you have female rabbis. Both reform and conservative Judaism view women as part of the minyan. When Jewish girls reach 12 in the reform movement, they can have a bat mitzvah, the female equivalent to a bar mitzvah.

Honestly don’t see how that is any different from Catholics accepting trans people

You are under the assumption that most older religions and countries worked in a democracy. They didn't. You will not find many popular movements in older religions if you find any at all that affects how the religion acted.

What actually happened was that the representatives of the church decided it. So it was a internal decision of the church that was later supported by the followers.

There's plenty of other changes that didn't got approval and were eliminated with time like simony.

I’d say both are examples of religions changing over time and due to outside influence.
No. They aren't. They aren't even examples of trying to appease haters like what happened in this case. You next example is a little mild but way better.

Honestly don’t see how that is any different from Catholics accepting trans people
The basic difference is that this is not something that most catholics would approve. While I personally don't have a issue about that for reasons that I already talked about, I can see why people would get angry over that. Specially if they start with their rhetoric bullshit that most Catholics consider offensive.

Still remember the fake report about beheaded babies? When the journalist from 24 iNews said she saw it firsthand but later backtracked saying she was told by some IDF soldiers? This video aged incredibly well

It's heart wrenching to know that the Israel military is built upon lies and genocide, and still the first thing the westerns said is "Do you condemn Hamas?" Well no shit, Hamas was founded decades after the illegal occupation began.

This is what true zionism is, simply supporting for a jewish state to exist is not zionism. They are the one that invented the movement, and they did it by lies and genocide. If you're pro zionists, you're a fucking piece of shit low-life

This is what you get when you decide to follow an autocratic religion. Your ''representatives'' will decide what you think and what you like or dislike.
All of these precious traditional values of yours were decided by them and you sucked it all up.
Now they made a decision that seems to contradict the decisions of their predecessors. Be a good follower and accept their decision!

All religions are autocratic in nature.

Nope. This is not a democracy or a political subject where you decide on representatives that will decide things. Christianity does not even work like that. It's not remotely similar to Sharia Law, specially in the modern era.

Nope. Failed again. If you had knew the basics of history you would have know that many traditional christian traditions were born from Jewish traditions and the divergence started when Christianity started to try and be his own thing. Others were decided because of actions of people instead of representatives (like devotion to Saints). So no. The argument that all traditional Christian values were from Conclaves or Pope is moronic.
Now they made a decision that seems to contradict the decisions of their predecessors.
If you actually looked at it you would notice that it doesn't. If the trans act as a normal human being he would not go against anything. If he tries to corrupt people he will be kicked out. I even mentioned that.
Be a good follower and accept their decision!
Again, a mention by the Pope of a subject does not make it like Sharia law. Think a little.

If you believe this decision has no value then why are you even upset? Nothing will change for you, no?

For someone spout so much nonsense, you should try to follow your own advice.

Again, try to read the posts properly. I explained my point of view earlier and I was trying to explain why someone could be upset.
This does not mean that I was upset. Some people are capable of talking about things without emotional attachment.
Nothing will change for you, no?
False. Some retards that don't read properly may think that the Pope comment may mean that abominations are free to act like animals and start the cycle of abuse. I personally do my best to avoid those types but this can slightly make my life harder so it's not appreciated.

Sorry, what does this part mean? I don't understand.

You know very little about this topic and cherry pick what you want to see and what suits your agenda.

Sorry, what does this part mean? I don't understand.
There's a specific type of activist that tries to use real issues to gather sympathy for some really abusive and awful things. I prefer to call those type of ''things'' abominations because they can't be considered human. A basic example is creating sex shows to children for their fetishes using tolerance as a excuse.
The rest is very simple and even you should understand.
You know very little about this topic and cherry pick what you want to see and what suits your agenda.
Religion? I agree that I know very little but at least I passed 4th grade and don't expect democracy in medieval times.
But, please, tell me my agenda. I didn't even knew I had one.
