I don't think this makes sense bro. I believe nothing really implied Ace's death left a permanent mark on Garp’s mental state, at least nothing has shown it did.

Sure all of the old legends get weaker with each passing year but while Ray was off chilling for almost two decades Garp was training every single day even after he officially retired 2 years ago.

That's definitely reason enough for me to say he didn't get that much weaker compared to Old Ray.

Gear 5 has better durability feats objectively.

Big Mom's best durability feat is tanking Kidd's rail gun.

Luffy's is soaking a Death Destroyer Thunder Bagua.

They're not even that comparable on the basis of feats.

Sakazuki managed to stay up and tear a limb from an opponent, while true Aokiji was damn impressive to stalemate Akainu, it doesn't scream "Near Equals", to me that is Luffy vs Lucci in EL.

Garp is an Old Legend, whom needed to be softed down by Shiryu before Kuzan started doing something, and do not forget how he said his strength has decreased.

Aokiji defeated Jozu because his role was over, not because Aokiji was above Kizaru, since the latter would also defeat Jozu fairly easy.

It does since it took Sakazuki 10 days to eventually win after the island was split in two equal parts. Sakazuki didn’t randomly get stronger meaning he and Kuzan were perfectly equal for those ten days.

Rayleigh also mentioned getting much weaker since his prime days; doesn’t change that Kuzan fought the one with the greater hype.

Kizaru wouldn’t have defeated Jozu easily just like he didn’t defeat Marco who’s damn close to Jozu in strength.
