Ratchet

The End and the Beginning
In what a section, I am just at work rn.
Action Resolution
Action resolution is the act of determining how Actions interact and then resolving what occurs overall. Because many Actions are specifically designed to inhibit or enable other Actions, it can be quite complex.

Night Action: Night Actions are Actions that are used during the Night phase. Night Actions are broken up into three tiers, with a higher tier resolving before a lower tier fires. Conversive, Manipulative, Preventative, and Protective Actions are Tier 1, Investigative Actions are Tier 2, and Creative and Destructive Actions are Tier 3. Tier 1 has special self-interaction rules for resolving when one such Night Action would affect another. First, a self-targeting Tier 1 Night Action always resolves before all other Night Actions. Second, if a Tier 1 Night Action is being affected by another Tier 1 Night Action, the former resolves after the latter, unless the former is also affecting the latter. Tier 1 Night Actions that resolve simultaneously, even if they would otherwise affect one another, do not interact with one another.

Day Action: Day Actions are Actions that are used during the Day phase. Unlike Night Actions, which are generally sent to the host in private, Day Actions are posted in the game thread; they fire and immediately resolve based on when they are posted.
Bolded being the key rules.

Oh now I see it. How hidden...lmao

Yeah idk, this feels like custom RaR almost. I think I don't use the tier system.
I use NaR with chains.
NaR is effectively the tier system, just explained differently. There may be some discrepancies, but the general principle is the same.

I will check it out after work. But yeah usually the results are the same. What NaR lacks is the useage of a hierarchy in it's system. For example to solve a three way preventation. (NaR usually has all 3 actions fail unless a hierarchy gets added)
Idk how much the tier system is adding to hierarchy.
Hierarchy would mean that a jailer always loses to roleblockers and rolestoppers when conflicted.

Usually priority lists don't go that deep.

But I saw alot of lists floating round that combine hierarchy with priority and I think that is more RaR.

And RaR is usually another version to NaR where some aspects get reasoned with outside of chains and priorities, like hierarchy.

Speaking of which, for reference, does anyone have a good source for general action priorities?
i use this:

Passives
Controls
Activated Passives
Busdrives/Deflects [Self]*
Preventative
Redirects
Busdrives/Deflects [Others]*
Miscellaneous
Protective/Supportive
Killing/Lethal Actions
Conversive
Investigative

* If a busdriver and a deflector conflict on the same target, the deflector goes first.

This resolution order follows minimal conflict principle to resolve paradoxes. if there are no direct conflicts then all actions work at the same time at end of night. It's not linear processing.

We call it the "Kekko NaR"

This is really helpful!

I have just one question; what do you mean by "activated passives"?

they r passives that you need to activate on yourself

like:
1 - activate this ability to grant yourself a bulltproof
2 - activate this ability to make your factional kill a janitor kill this night
3 - activate this ability to make yourself a nexus tonight
4 - activate this ability to grant yourself immunity to roleblocks for the night
5 - activate this ability to increase your vote power by 1 the following day
6 - activate this ability to make yourself a stump tonight
etc..

since actions process at the same time, if player A used an activated passive and player B roleblocked player A, then player A will be roleblocked even though their action *appears* first in the resolution order

the only time the resolution order comes into play is if there is a direct conflict, i.e if the activated passive was for example passive 3 or 4 above. those directly conflict with a roleblocker. in those events the nexus will deflect the roleblocker away just fine and the immunity to roleblock will stop the roleblocker. all the other passives above do not conflict with a roleblocker so will be blocked normally

Idk I scroll 2 pages back and its november.
So 2 months = 2 pages. December has been kunda skipped kek. Looks dead to me with small epochs maybe.
I recently feel like I’m finally finding my groove back, so I’ll likely be more active in this section again after 2 long years of trying to get back in without success

I was suffering from terrible burnout hh, I often find that I as a person tend to get really into something and almost get hyper focused on it until one day a switch just flips and I just lose interest.

It’s one thing I don’t really like about myself hh

but, I suppose you have to look at your flaws not as something that brings you down but rather a potential for improvement

oh and btw sry for not responding on Disc, it’s been some heavy days hh, so I’ve down prioritised that for now. I have this week off, so I’m sure you can expect to be spammed throughout this week Giga Rej
