Speaking of the president and other high politics. My grandfather was a politician and my father is. My father has tried to get me to run for local office which I refuse because of something my grandfather told me which has stayed with me and why I never trust anyone who reaches that high.
He had big political aspirations, I know you guys will think I'm saying this because he is my grandfather but was one of the smartest men I ever had the honor to know. He was a lawyer and started to run to be DA, hoping to move up to governor and then to the federal level. He dropped out of the DA race and told me he refused to sell his soul and morals for the position. He ended up being appointed a judge and never followed his political ambitions. I wished now I asked him to explain more but he was a private man. That is why I think all federal elections and higher state levels are always picking between two evils.

Politicians need to compromise to do anything. He probably didn't want to have to shake hands in daily basis with scumbags. Politics is a shady business,you need to have a really tough skin to survive in the game.

Local politicians are dirty too. There was a state race this last year. This man was sure to win, but a couple of days before the election his opponent organized a hate campaign against him saying the man did it.
A few years back during my father's election, a man took my dad to court to get him disqualified because my father owns multiple properties and he stayed over a year one while the other in his district was being remodeled. The man lost and my dad was re-elected again.
I don't have the skin for that nor would I want to put my kids through that because during that whole thing, I hated seeing people talk bad about my dad and I wouldn't want them to feel that.
