That's all he ever was about
Didn't people vote for him because he wanted to 'drain the swamp' and promised to not drag Murica into wars again?
He did the exact opposite.
Then he said he's ending the Ukraine war within what, a week? Didn't happen. He lets Putin and the likes do whatever they want while pocketing their bribes and acting like everything's going according to plan and that actually it's him who is in charge.
His fans let him do it and still support him.
Now the Epstein files. Releasing them would be as swamp draining as it gets. His fans don't see that him not releasing them is ultimate proof that he is and always has been part of that swamp he vowed to drain.
Long story short: they elected and defended a guy who stands for the exact opposite of what they truly want. And they're still not seeing it. Luckily some do (like yourself) but it should get you to think. Trump had it written all over his face. The way he acts and speaks were so obviously manipulative that to not realize what he truly is a testament to one's lack of judgement and ability to take care of one's needs and interests.
I suggest you and everyone else who fell for this conman's deceit to do some soul searching and ask yourselves how this could happen and why you wanted to believe in him so fervently.
I was a supporter back in 2016 when I was a nihilist and clinically depressed. Not an excuse, really - I still supported him, but I guess it is an explanation.
The extent of any defense I have provided in the following years was in relation to the media coverage of Trump and how some of it truly felt hysterical. I no longer believed in him, but I did find the response disproportionate to the individual offences.
A lot of people wanted to believe in someone other than "the establishment" politicians and chose the wrong guy. When people desperately want something to be true they can turn their eyes from any and all evidence. We are living in that reality.
However, the reason people double or triple down is the indirect "I told you sos" that they receive from others. Your following statement is but one of many they would receive: "...a testament to one's lack of judgement and ability to take care of one's needs and interests."
What happened to the concept of not blaming the victim?
Did I fuck up in the past for supporting Trump when I was in my very early 20s? Yes. Perhaps I even deserve scorn for it, I do not know, that is for each individual person to decide. I do know this however, treating people with disrespect is a surefire way to turn a potential ally into an enemy.
Try to be kinder to the "opposition". It might surprise you how reasonable people can be.
Be that as it may - I implore anyone standing behind Trump regarding the Epstein files to take a long look in the mirror. Why are you defending him? Does it make sense to do so in such a position? He ran on a platform of draining the swamp. He said he would release the files. He is now desperate to prevent that at all costs.
Actions over words, people. That's all.
