Mass shootings are overblown. Only a couple of those have happened. There are NOT thousand of cases of mass shootings in the US. The big killer is gang violence.

The right of self defense is a human right,to exercise such right you need propers tools. There is no way to take away guns from criminals. It is the point, the goal is to lower the murder rate to create a safe living space. You cannot seriously say that having xx murders isn't better than having xxxxxx murders. Gun regulation is one of the tools which would help towards that cause in a country like the US.
