This just the OP fandom having unrealistic expectations. There were never going to be a new "garp". You think Smoker would been on the future Pirate King level? It’s not even Koby will be able to even clash with Luffy lmaoo.

As I said. Irrelevant. Garp has won small scale clashes. He went all out while Kuzan didn’t. In the bigger picture he hasn't done shit. No damage dealt, didn’t wear his stamina down, nothing!
Turned out Kuzan was totally capable to fight Old Garp without the use of his fruit, what an embarrassment for the one once called Roger's rival.

I don't like Koby but I'm not going to be blind about how relevant Koby is to the plot, how strong his ties to Garp are and how thematically it makes sense for Garp's protege's to fight it out.
Smoker's not relevant, he's not been brought back with a PU that makes him relevant, he has no ties to Blackbeard or the pirates unlike Koby, he also does not have any recent personal stakes (Garp being captured because of Koby).
