There is two things here:

- The sentence that is questionned by the family
- The problem of the guy not being properly followed by the system (either mental health or police)

For the first point. Its sad, but if expert agrees on the cases, they must have reasons to do so. Personnally I'm always glad to see justice sending people in hospital rather than prison. Its a proof that we are starting to realize that we can have an actual impact and better the conditions of dangerous people. I understand the feelings of the family, but justice is not here to act as a tool for revenge.

Now for the second point, we have here a case were the system is lacking in the detection of potential dangerous individuals. This is not something that is specific to this country but to most country in the world. We need to push more on mental health services and notably on the detection that could prevent such cases to happen.

You do realize closed mental facilities for dangerous "patients" are literal lawless torture chambers?

Yes I agree, the problem is that a country with insane costs of living such as the UK are not spending enough money on public healthcare because –surprise surprise– the government doesn't care about the public

There is a significant amount of schizophrenic people who are incapable of making decisions for themselves and need to be forcibly placed under government care.

Some schizophrenic people are functional. They take their medications and are able to live somewhat normal lives.

But many others are so incapable of rational thought that they cannot even comprehend they have schizophrenia. They refuse to take medication and they end up cycling between prison and homelessness.

Schizophrenia is honestly less like mental illnesses like depression or anxiety and more of a full blown mental disability

Hamas had their hideout below UN HQ with wires coming out of the HQ to supply Hamas but Mr "This proves nothing" @Logiko says it is all propaganda.
This is just ONE of the hamas unit systems. What this MIGHT indicate, is that there could be links between UNWRA and hamas, it does not indicate that hamas hijacks humanitarian ressources to their profit as Israel claims. A link between between humanitarian ressources organization and the current lead group of resistance is not surprising at all.
