No, it's not my interpretation, it's what Oda is doing with Vegaskunk, go reread it.
This just shows your extreme narrow-mindedness. There are more ways to tell a story than one crappy template. But you don’t even know there are such things as interpretations.
Vegapunk getting stabbed by the evillest guy far and wide (which you do not care about at all) does not make a “redemption” arc. There is no redemption arc, Vegapunk was always pretty neutral or an ally (or friend to Dragon). To the SHs he was “bland”, to use a word of your own. And Oda was increasingly painting a picture of his personality as one with strong empathy and a deep sense of justice.
When it was revealed that he gave Bonney the command for the Pacifistas, it was from his own sense of care and forethought, not as a way to say “sorry” or rid himself of his guilt. You probably despised him from the start and didn’t pay attention and gave him the fault for Kuma, which is simply incorrect. Bonney herself has no issue with him.
Even if one sees anything “edgy” or borderline to him, that just serves to highlight the theme of scientific ethics (and which is arguably necessary to make him interesting). But there is nothing like Oda wanting him dead or a bloodthirstiness against him, which is not warranted and would be an absolutely idiotic simplification of the theme (e.g. imagine people protesting in front of cinemas playing Oppenheimer). There are other scientists in the story who callously and deliberately commit atrocities.
LOL I'm not giving Kizaru leeway of any sorts, I think he's been pretty bland and as a result I don't care about him. I wish he was as threatening and ~unsettled~ as you describe him. The reality is he hasn't done anything useful since he landed there.
Okay, you are easily thrown off by words that are not literally your own in your head. Then don’t call it leeway, the result is pure shallowness and hypocrisy either way.
And if you don’t think him wielding his sword and telling Bonney and Kuma exactly how he will cut them (“so that they are together” – how cpompassionate) isn’t dangerous, if no-one intervenes, then that’s just headcanon and I would say subjective crap.
Also the way he is trying to justify his actions to himself, like “you’ll be dead either way” are no mere game.
It’s also an explicit plot point that he is unsettled (or shaken or whatever), first brought up VP – and confirmed by Kizaru -, and now immortalized in an expression that will forever hype Sanji… As most likely his nerves play a role in that, but either way he is clearly unsettled in that panel.
I don’t even know why you need to argue about this word, but maybe that’s your thing...
The point is that it’s pretty rare that is someone is shouting for the death of a character, usually not even for an arc boss, and VP is definitely not that guy.
All the worse; he made child like beings and forced them not to act like children.
I don't believe he construed some absurd plan like this, it's more likely that being designed as weapons or soldiers etc, they have certain personality traits removed. Plus other modifications, like increased growth. There is no need for some devious nonsense to force them to go against their natural behaviour.
We might learn more about how they came to be...
