Most People who believe and convince themself the fight is extreme is pretty sure would be upset if zoro one shot:saden:
Most zoro fans know this lucci was just stall device to make zoro not intervene the main event; Luffy vs kizaru, bonney and kuma's conflict against saturn, vegapunk death.
The fight would be stomp and we were right from the get go thats why most zoro fans upset when lucci intervene zoro, tho im satisfied with this outcome with zoro low diff lucci with less effort than g5 luffy:ihaha:

What do you mean?? We need to see reaction shots from fodder irrelevant vice admirals every chapter, those are crucial to the story. Can't have main character fights taking any panel time away from that.
True, how could the story possibly progress without those and 780 panels of running from one location to another. Fights are clearly being sacrificed for the greater good

Let me show you what Choreography with Rob Lucci is capable of looking like

It hurts my soul reading these panels of old Lucci’s fights and remembering how hyped I was to see Lucci pull shit out in this Zoro fight

i think the king fight is worse than this Lucci fight but that’s only because I don’t even think this Lucci fight was a fight… it was arc filler

Oda's way too lazy, well out of his prime at this point it's obvious. Like OP said, Luffy bodied Blueno but that was a masterpiece.

I remember he admitted to this in an interview a few years back broken down by Sandman I believe:

"ONE PIECE has more characters than before. He has to cram much information into one chapter to move forward with the story. Oda says he would be able to draw really impressive fight scenes only if he could keep drawing the fight scene for 2 chapters in a row. He feels ONE PIECE can now spend only 1 chapter at most on a fight scene."

Issue is he'd rather draw a whole bunch of nothing instead.
And that is why I am saying for a while now that the worldbuilding that is so revered in the community is the demise of the series. Along with Oda wanting to show too much and bloating everything.

Reminder: Oda wanted a fire and an ice island he fused them.
He wanted a chibi people island, but fused green bit with dressrosa.
He simply still can't decide to cut off shit so he cramms more and more stuff in each page with million tiny panels in every single page.

The scope of the world has become too grand now. You can't focus on only 10 people, but Oda decided to cut 9 members part to give the rest of the cast shit to do,but one character has the same focus he had from the beginning,so it seems that he gets even more panel time than he got in the past.

Oh it was definitely a disappointment but this was obviously how it was going to go. It was blatant how little Oda cared about it when he didn't show it for like 4 months and the only update we got were them huffing with a couple scratch marks trashtalking each other. I think it was nothing more than a plot device to have Zoro at the labophase (or whatever it's called) when the Gorosei arrive and have some sort of duty there, it's a shame since the matchup was decent and even a couple pages here and there every 6-7 chapters or so would've been enough to at least make it seem like Oda was putting in any effort into it.

Usopp & Nami vs Ulti & P1 was far worse.
We have to start making definitions of things that “look” like fights but aren’t

I don’t even know what to call what this was… i knew it was going to be bad the moment we just cut back to Nami having TANKED AN ULTI MORTAR OFFSCREEN

This feat is ridiculous in every sense of the word. In an actual fight this would be the climactic moment… Nami is considered a glass canon, Ulti’s headbutt has been proven to overpower and damage Luffy even with his haki activated… now Ulti is doing the same headbutt but now she’s using her full Dinosaur form so it’s even stronger than the one that overpowers Luffy

this is set to be a ridiculous feat that shocks the reader that Nami isn’t the glass canon we thought she was and after tanking this attack she would manage to pull out last minute move to beat Ulti and then pass out from the severe damage of such a ridiculous attack… this is what would happen in An actual fight

instead this was happened is not only not climactic at all, as in Nami does this at the very start of their fight and is seemingly not that injured MEANING SHE CAN ACTUALLY SORT OF CASUALLY TANK HITS LIKE THIS NOW… it also happens offscreen

I cannot in good faith call this is a fight

we need new words for such things… Oda does this too many times for us to ignore… this thing where feats are meaningless to the power scale as long as they happened OFFSCREEN… Oda doesn’t have to even consider the implications of what he’s writing since it’s all offscreen

We need a new word for this.. these aren’t fights

I refuse to consider this as a fight, it was the worst written piece of shit I had the displeasure of witnessing and also made clear there’s absolutely nothing to expect from the weaklings outside panel wasting as long as Lolda is writing this series. A good author would be able to make them useful by making use of their wits, which is far above Lolda’s actual writing abilities .

It's because Oda spends the bulk of his time when it comes to drawing fight panels, adding in thousands of meticulous details for people to power scale over. From huffs, to bruise counts, to where the person is looking, to the way the person is talking, how they are standing, are their arms held too high, or too low, is their knees bent to much, is their beak bent, how many dots of blood was spilt, did it mess their hair up, did they use their left leg, etc..etc...

If Oda would just stop obsessing over those powerlevel details, he'd have enough time to draw longer fights....
