Did Scabbards win vs Kaido just because they landed few hits on Kaido but failed to put him down?
Why did Goofy win vs Lucci if he landed few hits on Lucci but failed to put him down?

Lucci even blitzed G5 right in front of him and G5 couldn't react.

What did Goofy accomplish in the fight?
Lucci for example:

• took control over Seraphim
• took over fabriophase

Stuff which are far more important than a 6 page fight, which Oda ended with a single move.

Oda decided to put Zoro there for several chapters, he wasn't forced to do that.
I'm not talking about pacing, but narrative.
Zoro vs Lucci lasted a lot in the "One Piece world", that's a fact. And it doesn't make sense for Zoro to have taken so long to beat Lucci if he was able to one-shot him from the start.
He took so long because he's stronger than him, but not so much stronger as his fandom want so desperately to believe. It's that simple.
