Controversial Kuina Was Zoro's Cousin?

Kuina Was Zoro's Cousin?
I'm pretty sure most of us believed that Zoro had a crush on Kuina when they were little. After all this time, we found out they're cousins? Awkward.

What makes it worse is that Zoro doesn't even know.

:kuzanshut:

Is it weird that Kuina parallels Tashigi and Zoro does shit like this with her...

Zoro does... what? Carry her to safety?
The author makes Zoro carry someone who looks similar to his apparent childhood crush who was actually his cousin with her booty sticking out deliberately and she's embarrassed to be caught in such a position because it looks like she's his woman lol

Would YOU feel totally secure if your writer made you carry someone who looks similar to your apparent childhood crush who was actually your cousin with her booty sticking out deliberately and she's embarrassed to be caught in such a position because it looks like she's your woman? LOL

Answer yes to that question and I will be very amused

How should he carry her? What would be the way of carrying her that you would consider it doesn't look like she's his woman? What would be the way of carrying her that wouldn't make her embarrassed to wake up being carried around by a sworn enemy pirate?

The author is feeding you parallels involving a guy and his cousin having romantic encounters.

Defend it if you must.

I mean it's not impossible that Zoro had feelings for her. And I don't think that'd be bad, long as he wasn't aware she was his cousin.

I don't think that's the aim of that scene. It's just that she was embarrassed to be carried around by him and what not.
I'm pretty sure nobody was even there to see her being carried like that.

lol you're starting to get into the whole "it's okay if he didn't know" reasoning.... that's bad

Tashigi is not Kuina, and you're arguing that Zoro wouldn't even know Kuina was his cousin.

This thread is weird. Not as weird as your other thread, but it's weird.
Ok Moegara..

I'm very sure that if he learned she was his cousin, he would not be attracted to her at all anymore.
And I'm not proud to admit this, but I kind of went through a similar thing my self, crazy as that sounds.
That realization can instantly knock those feelings and thoughts out of you.

There are obvious parallels between Tashigi and Kuina. The fanbase is so obsessed with the pair that they have included the pair in pictures with Tashigi to resemble them growing up and becoming partners.

It's weird to not think that they had a thing going on. You'd have to be blind (lack reading comprehension).
That "who" had a thing going on? 8 years old Zoro and Kuina? Literal little kids, sure. Then I lack reading comprehension.

Yes, there are parallels between Tashigi and Kuina... so what?
Tashigi is not Kuina
Unless you want to argue Tashigi is Kuina, any parallel is irrelevant. Tashigi reminds Zoro of traits he cherished, cool, if he falls for her, it's still not his cousin. There are plenty differences between them just like there are other resemblances.

But then again, this is talking about a romance that so far only exists in the heads of the fandom. You're bringing up fanart yourself to somehow defend your point. The scene you brought up of Zoro carrying Tashigi isn't weird outside of your head and now you're bringing out fanarts to hold your point.

There are many things wrong with it, Moegara.

- The author knowingly drew parallels between Tashigi and Kuina.
- The fans shipped Kuina and Zoro prior to discovering that they were cousins.
- Zoro, himself, may have held strong feelings toward Kuina and that's why he resents Tashigi for looking like her.

It's weird bro lol

@Moegara

Kuina was 11 when she died.

The other part of that is Oda tells fans to READ BETWEEN THE LINES. For stuff that we basically expect to be happening, we're supposed to imagine it ourselves. Zoro having a crush on Kuina is actually one of those things.

Kuina was 11 when she died.
- Tashigi resembles someone else, yet she's not skilled like she was, she's clumsy, she has bad eyesight, she's a sword nerd, she's defined by her hate of pirates, she has no interest in becoming WSS or in proving a point about women, nor is she traumatized by her gender hampering her potential in the way Kuina was.

- Fans ship anything that moves. Whatever fans did is irrelevant when discussing what Oda or Zoro did.

- Zoro had strong feelings towards Kuina, that's obvious. Romantically or not, he refers to her as a very good friend even at Wano. If Luffy died right now, Zoro would be similarly bothered by meeting someone who feels just like him 10 years later.

- 11 years olds are still literal kids, but Zoro was visually younger than Kuina in the flashback. He was visually a similar age to Luffy in his own flashback, who was 7.

All your thesis is based in little Zoro having a crush in Kuina. But you can't prove that
It's not even really a matter of proving it - the author tells you himself to read between the lines with stuff like that. Zoro met a young girl, and they shared a dream together. They practiced like rivals. If he didn't have a crush on her, he was developing one.

There is more than one issue to address with this.

The fans themselves have to address that they had their imaginings about Zoro and Kuina. The Zoro and Kuina pictures involving romantic encounters proves that. That's the fans fault for doing that before realizing they were cousins which is hilarious.

Then, there's the fact that Oda made Tashigi resemble Kuina while at the same time cozying up with Zoro. Ooh how he hates that she looks like Kuina - he loved that face lol... how dare she come around him looking like his dead "best friend".

Another thing to address is simply that the fans have to question whether they believe Zoro and Tashigi can still be shipped lol... it's borderline incestuous simply because Tashigi resembles Zoro's cousin.

Do YOU guys want Zoro and Tashigi to get together knowing she resembles his dead cousin? It's kinda fked up lol
