Speculations Emperor Nero

#1
Nero is the main inspiration for Imu Sama.

Nero was the fifith emperor of Rome. Here in Italy, we call him "Nerone" (and Imu family is Nerona).

Some of his most infamous actions were:
1) set fire in Rome (it's parallel of Imu sinking the world?).
2) he was a conspirationist and killed members of his family to take the throne (like @Mr. Reloaded). As I said sometimes, I think the 20 kings of the void century were not evil, but were fooled by Imu's conspirations. When Nero died, people used to say that he was alive (like the people who says Elvis is alive). What if Imu faked his own death to fool the other kings?
3) he persecuted the first christians, ordering kill St. Peter, the first pope, and St. Paul (I think this a parallel between the persecution of the apostles and the D people)
It's curious because one of the gorosei is called "St. Shepherd Ju Peter". That means he gonna betray Imu? (no idea).
4) Nero had the "soul" of a poet, his last words was: “What a great artist the world loses in me!”. When he set fire in Rome it was said that he was composing a song. I think Imu is also like him in this sense, like a poet. The poets of ancient Greece and Rome, to get inspiration they need to have a nymph . And Imu's nymph was Lily (and now is Vivi)

Nero was a ginger man, and I obviously want to link Nerona Imu to Nami. What if Imu killed his family and someone from his family survived and Nami is the last descendant of this person?

****I forgot to say that Nero was considered by the first christians as the "beast of the apocalypse" and some researchers theorize that 666 is a code that refer to Nero

Tbf, most of Nero's biographies were overly exaggerated.

While he certainly wasn't competent politcally, the main reason for his terrible reputation was that his biographers were on the same side that assassinated him.

The history of Nero's reign is problematic in that no historical sources survived that were contemporary with Nero. These first histories, while they still existed, were described as biased and fantastical, either overly critical or praising of Nero.[137] The original sources were also said to contradict on a number of events.[138] Nonetheless, these lost primary sources were the basis of surviving secondary and tertiary histories on Nero written by the next generations of historians.[139] A few of the contemporary historians are known by name. Fabius Rusticus, Cluvius Rufus and Pliny the Elder all wrote condemning histories on Nero that are now lost.[140] There were also pro-Nero histories, but it is unknown who wrote them or for what deeds Nero was praised.[141]
He was a more nuanced character.

Oh shit I cant believe I never thought of Nero with Nerona, so obvious yet I still missed the obvious as usual. Hiding in plain sight lol.

Nero was ginger?! BRUH! Legit learning so much here from your post and some other replies here and I normally hate learning history now, although I used to like it lol.

I feel Nami and her lookalikes in OP are all descendants of the same person hence their same face but this would be pretty cool too. The fact Lily looks just like Vivi adds fuel to my idea too though.

Regarding the burning of Rome, we have the WG burning down Laws homeland and its inspired by Italy AFAIK (Laws design is based on a famous Italian Formula 1 driver, Valentino Rossi but Oda has said more recently Law is German too) .

3) he persecuted the first christians, ordering kill St. Peter, the first pope, and St. Paul (I think this a parallel between the persecution of the apostles and the D people)
Ju Peter betrayal confirmed? Haha.

It's curious because one of the gorosei is called "St. Shepherd Ju Peter". That means he gonna betray Imu? (no idea).
OH YOU JUST SAID IT AT THE END, I should really read the whole of peoples messages before I respond, I keep getting caught out like this lmao, sigh.

Now I think about it, Doflamingo kinda feels fitting for Nero or possibly Enel. I cant see Imu being like this so far, but maybe he was like this in the past?

We've also had Goa being burned down or w/e and we have a literal flame of the revolution who is doing the most work of the Revolutionaries in Sabo and he even confronted Imu and the Gorosei up front! Coincidence or not? Sabo is also being led by a person called Dragon too and Dragons are known for burning things down, hell Revolutions also involve burning down buildings and thus systems and rules, a lot of arson.

Lily being Imu's nymph and thus muse is far too fitting though, hence why he has also has a portrait of her and clearly simps over her now even several centuries later.
Its very reminiscient of how Imhotep in the original Brendan Fraser The Mummy movie lost the love of his life, she was sacrificed when they were both betrayed or assassinated or w/e I think, before he was sacrificed and sealed away too and when he came back centuries later, she was gone but he was immortal and he went after Brendan Frasers wife to replace his lost lover, as she reminded her of him or he thought she was her reincarnated or something IIRC? I havent seen the film since I was a child or teenager I think, its been a VERY long time so I've forgotten lol.

This is a great post, a great theory, tyvm for tagging me in this, very fascinating, and insightful, a lot to think about her, a lot to ruminate on. I'm gonna have to process this considerably. Oda will definitely be influenced by Nero now you mention him and Nerona seems far too fitting as you pointed out, it cant be coincidence.

Big Mom could possibly also be inspired by Nero given her love of music, Bobbins burning down countries for her, her gluttonous, self indulgent behaviour like Romans and their egregious feasting to the point they vomited and then kept eating again repeatedly and so on.

Now the question is too, who are Caligula, Julius Caesar and Brutus in One Piece? Or even all the Caesars too?

Wasn't Cleopatra killed by an asp too? I was gonna say Boa was the Cleopatra of One Piece which would be ironic somehow but maybe Lily is the Cleopatra in a way and maybe thats how she died too? Bitten by a snake so to speak? Maybe literally? It was suicide I believe too, so maybe Lily killed herself to escape Imu or because she felt she had no choice/to avoid a worser fate or to be a martyr and or punish Imu or because she lost Joyboy and thus why Imu is also so obsessed and griefstricken too?

Anyway thats enough of my insane random rambling/tangents, hope my post is of some value despite how illogical it is lol.

Thanks again for the tag, very well formatted, easy to read, coherent and genuinely fascinating and entertaining to read!

Yeah, I think its possible Lily be inspired in Cleopatra. The queen of egypt/alabasta be the loved by a roman/imu.

And I forgot to say that Nero was considered by the first christians as the "beast of the apocalypse" and some researchers theorize that 666 is a code that refer to Nero
