When it comes to getting rid of Mars without defeating him, this was a good way to do it.

Out of all the Gorosei, Mars was the biggest threat mainly because he can fly, so even if they did try to escape, Mars can simply hunt them down form the sky.

He might not be the strongest Gorosei but he definitely was the biggest threat.
