You have to realise that at that point, the marines were basically the victors already, with Whitebeard dying and the rest of the crew running away. Akainu didn't even bother to chase them mfckers and just played mind games with them. Ace was the only one who fell for it, and we all know what happened after that.

Anybody who would have tried to stop Ace from getting one shotted by Papazuki would likewise got one shotted by Papazuki as collateral damages. :milaugh:

Not quite, Crocodile protected Luffy and Jinbe from getting their asses killed by Akainu and hit the Sables on them to make them fly.

I'd imagine if Crocodile hit Akainu with that sand blade imbued with CoA, Croco-boy with CoA would be elite af :steef:

Nothing could have been done at that point. It is like if you see 2 men arguing (only words) when suddenly one of the 2 approaches the other, and this one then suddenly punches the first leaving him unconscious/death/whatever you like. Everybody was left staggered because it was way too sudden, also nobody expected Ace to fall for it and nobody could have stopped Akainu from killing Luffy, bar Ace. That was what he did and he paid that with his life.

At this point actually we can say that Shanks could have stopped Akainu just like what he did to save Coby from Akainu (basically it is the very same scenario) but the plot demanded for Ace to die and so here we are. Only Oda could have saved him but he had different plans.
