In saying that, I do agree it was a weird choice to have them all hit Luffy instead of doing like a combo attack directly on Mars, but thats the way Oda rolls.
He has been doing weird things with his characters like this from day one.

From vice admirals talking about the legend of a hurricane whenever the rogue prince is present, building up the character. To finally getting his grand intro soloing the entire Colosseum group effortlessly, to the point even SABO was shocked at this speed:
This was just for a side character, who would become Grand fleets first Captain by the way.
Oda knew how to deliver on character intros back in the day.
Compare that to Gorosei introduction, these characters are legends who are centuries old.
Hakuba intro >>> any intro in Egghead. The difference in energy when it comes to Oda's writing, between Dresrossa and now is painfully obvious to anyone objective.
Luffy's energy in Dresrossa, his character >> Luffy in Wano. Compare dialogues to kaido vs Doflamingo.
Zoro cutting Pica in half was more hype than anything he did in Wano, even tho on paper the hakai feat should be far more impressive. Energy due to execution.
KKG on Doflamingo felt way more impactful than Bajrang gun, even though they were parallels, with big punch and in how the villains were both sent far under the ground.
